The Australian Society for Fish Biology has an active policy of supporting researchers and students whose discipline or research is relevant to the activities of the society. The principal way it demonstrates its support is through its annual awards.

Student International Travel Scholarship

Up to $3000 has been made available to support a student to present an oral paper at an international conference that is relevant to the activities of the Society, in the year of the award. Read more...

 

Conference Awards and Bursaries

  • John Glover Travel Fund - The purpose of this fund is to assist as many full time Australian and New Zealand students to attend the annual meeting of the Society as possible.

A minimum of $100 up to 50% of travel costs for the annual conference (max $600). Read more...

  • John Lake Poster Awards - The award is presented to encourage and support high quality poster presentations by students at the annual conference.

  • Barry Jonassen Award - Awarded to support research costs incurred by an honours or post-graduate student in the field of freshwater fish biology or freshwater fisheries ("fish" includes commercially important invertebrates). $2000. Read more...

Early Career Research Awards - Closing Date Has Now Been Extended - 31 May 2013

  • Ben Chuwen Early Career International Travel Scholarship  - ASFB are providing a travel scholarship to support an early career scientist to present an oral paper at an international conference that is relevant to the activities of the ASFB. The scholarship will provide a return airfare, conference registration and accommodation up to a total value of $3,000, plus a full registration for the Scholar to attend the next ASFB annual conference where they will present the work as a plenary talk.
