ASFB 2011 Conference
We wish to invite you and your colleagues to the Australian Society for Fish Biology’s annual conference to be held in Townsville North Queensland, Friday 22 - Sunday 24 July 2011.
ASFB2011 promises to be an event filled with an exciting range of oral presentations and poster sessions that have become a hallmark of the Society’s Annual Conference, as well as social events which provide a great opportunity to network and mingle with fellow delegates. This tropical meeting will incorporate two workshops prior to the conference, one highlighting the importance of social science in the research and management of fisheries (Friday 22 July) and the 5th Australian Technical Workshop on Fishways (Wednesday 20 – Friday 22 July). Two meetings, one of leading fish taxonomists and the other of scientists involved in teleost ageing techniques will also be held in conjunction with the conference (Friday).
Registration for the conference and social science workshop are now open, with early bird rates available until the 30th April. We are calling for delegates to submit abstracts for workshops and for oral and poster conference presentations within a number of themes:
• Fisheries and management
• How to measure “spillover” from fished and unfished management areas
• Freshwater ecology and biology
• Deep water research
• Teleost and elasmobranch biology, ecology and conservation
• Genetics and population dynamics
• Social science and fisheries science synergies
