Dr Charles Todd

2021 ASFB Hall of Fame Award and ASFB Lifetime Membership

Charles Todd’s research interests lie in quantifying risk and uncertainty in fisheries management actions. Charles works closely with key stakeholders and agencies to develop population models that address key management and research questions affecting a variety of terrestrial and aquatic biota. Charles’ work has made considerable impact across a range of fields, including developing tools to manage both threatened species and invasive species, and build novel population models that are equally adept at addressing management questions for localised small endemic species and large, widely distributed species at the scale of the Murray-Darling Basin.

Charles Todd joined ASFB in 1999 and attended his first conference in Bendigo, Victoria. Charles has been a regular attendee at ASFB conferences – indeed he has rarely missed a conference since then and has been actively involved in organising a few of them as well. Charles has made an incredible contribution to our Society through his service as our Secretary 2007 to 2021 – that’s 14 years of minute taking, keeping the Executive Council business in line and being our constitutional go-to-man! Charles has survived 7 Presidents and too many Executive council representatives to mention! He warmly welcomes new members, introduces them to others and puts them at ease in the Society. He conducts himself with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity, whilst also being able to have a laugh and enjoy the lighter side of our meetings.

Charles Todd was inducted into the ASFB Hall of Fame and awarded ASFB Lifetime Membership in 2021 for his outstanding service to our Society.
