Fisheries Management Committee
The scope of the Fisheries Management Committee is to lift the profile of fisheries management as a discipline and provide an ongoing professional association for emerging and existing professionals in fisheries management and policy.
The Fisheries Management Committee has the following aims:
provide a forum for fisheries managers to network, engage and discuss approaches to fisheries management challenges, and consider solutions through the collaboration of ideas, networking and information-sharing;
help to bridge the gap between science and management by increasing opportunities for fishery managers, policy makers and scientists to collaborate and share information;
provide a range of training and personal development opportunities;
establish a network for the provision of advice, support and guidance to persons involved with, or interested in a career path in, fisheries management and policy;
improve consistency, accessibility and transparency in fisheries management and policy decisions and legislation between jurisdictions; and
increase the standing and recognition of fisheries managers and policy makers through promotion of the profession.
